Refund Policy

Effective October 14, 2026

In one paragraph. We do not refund BusinessAppraisal subscriptions. A charge is reversed only in the three situations listed under "Where we do return money". The sample valuation on the site shows the real methods and report layout before you pay, and switching off renewals takes a moment in your account.

What a subscription buys

Every BusinessAppraisal plan is a monthly or yearly subscription to the valuation tool, with the limits shown on the pricing page. The fee pays for access to the tool for a billing period. It is not a fee per valuation, per report or per download, and the whole period is unlocked on its first day, whether you value ten companies that month or none.

By starting a subscription you ask us to provide the tool right away. To the extent a statutory right of withdrawal or a cooling-off period would otherwise apply, you accept that it ends as soon as we begin providing the service at your request.

Reasons that never lead to a refund

A charge is not returned, in full or in part, because:

  • you changed your mind, sold or bought the business already, or no longer need valuations;
  • you did not run any valuation, or ran fewer than the plan allows, during a paid period;
  • a renewal was collected, including one that succeeded only after earlier attempts failed;
  • you thought the plan was a one-time purchase, although the pricing page, checkout, confirmation email and account all say it renews;
  • you forgot to cancel before the renewal date, or cancelled the day after it;
  • you disagree with an estimate: the multiple applied, the discount rate, the comparable sales or the final range. Our output is an educational estimate driven by the figures you enter, not a certified appraisal, and a buyer, lender or court may reach a different number;
  • a lender, broker, buyer or tax adviser declined to rely on a BusinessAppraisal report;
  • a feature you expected is not described on the pricing page, or behaves differently from what you assumed;
  • you picked the wrong plan or billing period;
  • part of a period remains after you cancel, since access continues to its end and is never pro-rated;
  • someone else used your account, including a colleague or adviser you shared the sign-in with.

Where we do return money

Only these three cases qualify, and only when our records and the transaction records confirm them:

  • A double charge. A fault in our billing took payment twice for the same period.
  • An unauthorised charge that the evidence confirms. Your card was used without your permission, you tell us within 14 days of the charge, and the account and payment records support it. A statement alone does not settle it. We may ask you to confirm that you have reported the misuse to your card issuer.
  • A complete outage on our side. A confirmed fault made the tool fully unusable for a continuous stretch, you told us while it was happening, and we could not fix it. Slow loading, a single broken chart, or problems with your own browser, device or connection do not count.

An approved refund is capped at what you paid for the affected period, goes back to the card that was charged, and is the full extent of our liability for that charge. One approved refund does not entitle you to another.

Asking for a refund

Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account within 14 days of the charge. Tell us the date and amount of the payment and which of the three cases applies. Requests sent later, or through any other channel, are not reviewed. We answer in the order requests arrive and do not reopen a request once it has been declined.

Renewals, failed payments and cancelling

Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period until you turn renewals off in your account. You can do that at any time without writing to us. Turning renewals off is not a refund request: you keep access until the paid period ends, and no further charge follows.

When a new period starts, access for the whole period opens and the fee for it becomes due. If the card is declined, the amount stays due and our payment operator tries again over the next few days. Those retries collect one unpaid invoice; they are not extra charges. Cancelling after a period has started stops the renewals that would come after it, but it does not cancel the fee for the period already under way, even when that fee is collected some days late. To avoid a renewal, cancel before the date shown in your account.

Records we keep

When you create an account you accept our Terms of Service, which include this policy, and our Privacy Policy. Checkout shows the plan, price, billing period and automatic renewal before any payment, and the confirmation email repeats it.

For each subscription we keep the time of purchase, the plan and price shown at checkout, your acceptance of the terms, the emails we sent you, and a log of account activity such as sign-ins, valuations created, reports exported and figures saved, with the technical details recorded alongside them. Our payment operator keeps its own record of each payment, including where the card was issued, where the payment came from and the result of bank authentication such as 3D Secure.

Unauthorised-charge claims are assessed against these records. If you think a charge is wrong, contact us first. Opening a chargeback without contacting us breaches our Terms; we then send the records above to your card issuer and close the account permanently.

Earlier purchases

Payments made before October 14, 2026 remain under the terms that applied when they were made.
