Privacy and security
Is my business valuation data private? Here is our posture
Businessappraisal is built so an owner can find out what their business is worth without exposing sensitive financials. You type in a few numbers, we return an estimate, and we never sell or share your inputs. There is no bank login, no accounting connection, and no third party sees your figures.
In short
Yes. Businessappraisal only asks for the high-level figures needed to run a valuation, such as revenue, earnings, and growth. Those inputs are used to produce your estimate and are never sold, shared, or used to contact you by anyone else. We do not connect to your bank or accounting software, we do not ask for account numbers, and everything you enter is encrypted in transit and at rest. You are always in control of what you share.
Privacy posture
Minimal inputs, private by design
Every choice below is made so an owner can get a valuation without handing over more than the estimate needs, and without their financials leaving their control.
Only the numbers a valuation needs
We ask for high-level figures such as revenue, EBITDA or SDE, growth, and margin. We do not ask for bank statements, tax returns, account numbers, or customer lists. The fewer sensitive details we hold, the safer your data is.
No bank or accounting connection
Businessappraisal does not link to your bank, your accounting software, or any financial account. You type in a handful of figures, so there is no login to your money and no way for the tool to reach into your finances.
Your inputs are never sold or shared
The numbers you enter are used to produce your estimate. We do not sell them, share them with brokers, or hand your details to a sales team. This is the opposite of a free calculator built to capture your email for a broker.
Encryption in transit and at rest
Everything you submit is encrypted in transit with TLS and encrypted at rest. Your figures are not exposed in logs or to other users of the tool.
You control what you share
You choose what to enter, and you can use the on-site valuation with sample businesses to see how it works before typing a single number of your own. Nothing about your business is required to try it.
An estimate, not a filed document
Businessappraisal returns an educational estimate for your own planning. It is not a certified appraisal and is not filed with any authority, so your numbers are never submitted anywhere on your behalf.
Scope
What we ask for, and what we never do
What we ask for
- High-level revenue for the trailing year
- Earnings, such as EBITDA or seller's discretionary earnings
- Growth rate and rough margin, to weight the methods
- Your industry or business model, to pick the right comparable sales
What we never do
- Ask for your bank login, tax returns, or account numbers
- Connect to your accounting software or financial accounts
- Sell or share the figures you enter
- Hand your details to a broker or a sales team
Businessappraisal is decision support for owners, buyers, and sellers. Every estimate is for you to review and use in your own planning and negotiation.
Privacy questions
The questions owners ask first
A business valuation estimates what a company is worth using several methods and reconciling them into a range. Businessappraisal applies three: a revenue multiple (value as a multiple of revenue), an EBITDA or SDE multiple (value as a multiple of earnings), and a discounted cash flow (the present value of projected future cash). It then benchmarks the result against how comparable businesses at similar scale have recently sold. When the methods agree, the range is tight. When they diverge, you see which assumption is driving the gap. The result is an educational estimate, not a certified appraisal.
An instant valuation is an educated estimate, not a precise number, which is why Businessappraisal shows a low to high range rather than a single figure. The estimate is only as good as the numbers you enter and the assumptions behind each method, and the actual sale price always depends on the buyer, the deal terms, and diligence. It is an accurate way to understand roughly what your business is worth and why, before you commission a formal valuation. It is not a substitute for a certified appraisal.
No. Businessappraisal provides an educational estimate for informational purposes only. It is not a certified appraisal, a USPAP-compliant valuation, a fairness opinion, or financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. For a formal valuation, such as for tax, ESOP, SBA lending, litigation, divorce, or a 409A, you should engage a credentialed appraiser (ABV, CVA, or ASA). We are the decision-support layer you use before that, to understand what your business is likely worth and why.
At a minimum, your annual revenue and either EBITDA or seller discretionary earnings (SDE). Adding your growth rate, industry, and business model produces a tighter, better-benchmarked range. You do not upload tax returns, connect your accounting software, or share sensitive documents. You enter a few numbers and Businessappraisal does the rest.
